Maintenance
Like almost all machines, automobiles and cars require regular maintenance to remain in operating condition. Most vehicles come with specific maintenance schedules which the owner must abide by if they expect to retain the warranty on their vehicles. For out of warranty vehicles, there are some basic rules of thumbs on how often maintenance must be completed.
Some maintenance affects the life expectancy of the vehicle, while others, like that of Tires and Brakes, can directly impact the safety of the vehicle. It is because of these safety issues that most states require vehicles to be inspected on a yearly basis.
