Hertz Electronic Check-In at TF Green a Waste of Time
Published about 2 years ago
While I usually choose Thrifty when travelling to TF Green airport in Warwick, Rhode Island, I was able to get a better rate with Hertz this weekend (thanks in part to a AAA discount).
I've used Hertz before and found their customer service quite impressive but their prices a little higher.
My experience this weekend was totally different.
First of all, the price was less expensive than the competition - a welcome change!
Second, the customer service was lousy. I walked to the car lot because I had checked in online based on promises of a faster departure with my rental car. Nope! They don't have the equipment necessary to process electronic check-ins at that Hertz location. Duh! Why offer it then?
So I walk back to the airport and am aggressively sold on a larger car and a full tank of gas. Ugh, please I just wanted my car. I don't mind upsales attempts while I'm making my reservation, but when I've just gotten off an airplane, its the last thing I'm interested in.
Lastly, the car I was in reeked of a chain smoker who drove with the windows up. Very gross.
I'll give Hertz a second chance of course, but I'm certainly wary.
Note: TF Green has on-site rentals with these companies:
- Hertz
- Avis
- One more... Dollar?
