I got to drive a Tesla Motors Roadster
Published about 3 years ago
Today was one of the most incredible days I've had in a long time - I got to drive a Tesla Motors Roadster. I'm visiting a friend in Los Angeles who works for Tesla and he was kind enough to not only give me a ride as a passenger in a Tesla Roadster along Mulholland Drive but to let me get behind the wheel.
Muholland is a great road to drive in a car like the Roadster because it has an incredible suspension system and unbeatable acceleration. It handles very well around the curves and takes off like a rocket.
I have a few comments:
- The sound of the engine is wonderful. It really sounds like a futuristic rocket taking off.
- I like the feeling of the regenerative braking, it makes driving the Tesla feel like driving a vehicle with a manual transmission, even though the Tesla only has two gears - forward and reverse.
- I'm slightly above average height, and the sun visor on the windshield blocked my view a little bit.
- The car is low, which makes it corner incredibly well, but also makes it a little tough to get in and out.
I haven't driven like a car like a Roadster ever in my life, and I doubt I will again anytime soon. I hope that I get to drive it again at some point in the future. If I had the money, I'd but one today.

Sounds like you're giving the ol' corolla the boot. What's the mileage on a car like that? I have to imagine something built like that would chew through a lot of gas. Making it impossible to buy one under the trade in your clunker package.
