Speeding Camera Class Action Lawsuit

Published about 3 years ago

Apparently there is a lawyer in Maryland suing the state over their use of cameras to ticket speeding motorists. This should be interesting. Its a class action lawsuit, so anyone who's been nabbed (like me) can get involved.

I don't think that traffic cameras to slow down traffic is a bad idea, but I think that Maryland is going about it in a poor manner. I think that they should first send a warning, so that motorists are alerted to the fact that these cameras exist. Also, they should require signs which display driver speed limits whenever there is a camera speed trap. Some camera speed traps do this already, but not all.

Also, the camera speed traps should take into consideration road conditions. For instance, if a road goes downhill prior to an uphill climb, drivers should be allowed to leverage gravity to maintain their velocity towards the hill. This is more efficient and saves gas. If there is a problem, the cameras should calculate the amount of influence the force of gravity has on the vehicle, and if the vehicle is exceeding the speed that the effect of gravity would cause, only then issue a ticket.

These seem like simple guidelines, how is it that the lawmakers missed the point?
