Towing the Benz

Published almost 4 years ago

We found a company to tow the Mercedes for a good price. We paid $55 for the initial hook up, and then 2 dollars for every additional mile driven. The guy was friendly and got the car to Hingham in no time.

I couldn't believe the price differences between the company we used and some of the other companies we got estimates from. I figured the prices would all be in the same ballpark as each other. The first company I called charged $90 just for the hook up, then on top of that they hit you up for 3 dollars every mile and an 8% fuel surcharge. The hook up alone was more than what we paid for the entire tow with the other guys. The third company we called would have charged a flat rate of $90, this would have been a little more pricey than what we ended up paying.

Apparently with the rising price of gas, fuel surcharges are becoming a common practice. The surcharge usually fluctuates as the average price of gas goes up or down. UPS is one of the major package delivery services that has fuel surcharges.

So like any work you need done, its always good to get a few estimates before you commit to anything.
