Telecommuting
Published almost 4 years ago
With gas prices being sky high I feel lucky to be working from home today. On an average work day I use about 2 gallons in gas. With today's gas prices being what they are - that is about $8 in gas, just to commute to work. If you factor in the fact that I didn't have to think about going out and buying lunch today, around $8, let's face it there's no such thing as a $5 lunch anymore, and I was an hour early to start work today. It works out to be a nice bit of savings.
I do admittedly miss the face to face contact with my coworkers, and the many resources we have in the office. At the same time I'm loving being in my own space getting valuable work done.
Feels like a win for the environment and my paycheck today. ;)

Telecommuting is awesome. I did it for a long time when I first got into computers. There is a ton of value working alongside others, but I think the great majority of workers commute to the office out of habit.
