How I Turned off the Maintenance Required Light in a Toyota RAV4

Published over 3 years ago

Just figured out how to turn off the Maintenance Required Light on my wife's RAV4. Last week I tried the same technique which worked on my Corolla, but it didn't work.

Just turns out I was doing it wrong. I had to select the trip odometer A first, then follow the usual instructions: hold down the trip button while the car is off, turn the key to the on position without turning on the car, then I continued to hold down the button for another 5 seconds. Bingo - the light was off!:-)

Thanks Albert, it worked !

Thanks Albert. I have been taking my RAV to the dealer for 2.5 years and now they require an appointment so I want to change the oil myself. The trouble was that they would not tell me how to reset the light,(Big Secret!!!).

My wife has a 2005 Rav 4 and I had to hold down the odometer button when it was on odometer (not A) and the light went out

What about a 2009 Toyota RAV4 with the dumb "smart key?"

Thank you so much! I took my car to a local dealership that sells a different make of ccar and they told me they didn't know how to turn it off. You just saved me an extra trip out of my way to Toyota! You're the best!

GREAT. It works for my 2008 RAV4 Sport. Thanks. We just have to set trip odometer to A and follow same steps.
