Parking in the Snow

Published over 4 years ago

Yesterday, upon getting into my car, I noticed what looked like a parking ticket in my windshield. Further inspection revealed it to be a fake ticket warning me that I could get a real ticket if I parked there during a snow emergency. OK, thanks for the warning.

Last night, with about 1/2 of an inch of snow on the ground, a police officer showed up at my door informing me I had to move my car to the "odd" numbered side of the street. I could tell from his expression that he felt the same way I did - we weren't having a snow emergency.

My guess is that the new mayor of the city I live in is trying to do everything by the book. I think that's a great idea, but last night's visit was ridiculous.

On the other hand, my wife and I are moving to Washington, D.C. soon, and one of the places we browsed offers a single parking space for sale for $30,000. Crazy, huh?
