No More Driving and Jabbering

Published over 4 years ago

Massachusetts is the latest state to outlaw talking on your cell phone while driving. In my humble opinion, I think this is a great idea, given that headsets and hands-free devices are excluded.

Text-messaging is also illegal, and obviously a no-brainer. If you haven't, think about getting a bluetooth headset or hands-free speaker / microphone setup for your car.

While I now use a bluetooth car stereo, I have used several different headsets, and my favorite thing about those was that the voice commands worked with them. You could push the button on the headset and it would say "Please say a command", and you could issue a call to someone. Unfortunately I don't think my car stereo can do that.

I don't know why car manufacturers don't make bluetooth connectivity a default feature. If they offered it as a safety feature rather than a premium feature, I think they would have positive results.
