Tata Motors

Published over 4 years ago

Tata Motors has put a $2,500 car out on the marketplace. This is the cheapest car that the world has seen in a long time, and its sure to get more people in the sub-continent of India driving. "Tata" is a very large company in India - they also have a serious IT operation. It would be interesting for Tata to take an IT approach with cars - maybe even get them running linux? That would be a good thing! :-)

I'm not sure if the $2,500 Tata car is going to make it stateside anytime soon, but I would be surprised if it does.

Max says:

Thats crazy, how can they afford to sell it so cheap. Is there some catch.

rae says:

it probably crumbles in an accident. and wouldn't fit more than two fairly small people... then again some of the less expensive cars are focused on function rather than comfort, so it may very well be a sturdy little car

Albert says:

As far as I know I think labor in India is a heck of a lot cheaper than here in the US, Europe or in Japan where the majority of automobiles are manufactured.
