Battery Maintenance

I'm trying to get my Mercedes Benz started but the darn battery is fully discharged - which is my fault for not having run the car for over three months.

I tried jumping it with a battery pack, but I hadn't charged that lately either. Whoops! So I bit the bullet, pulled the battery out, and am charging it up. What am I charging it with? What else? My solar panel. I actually would use a trickle charger if I had one, so this is a good alternative. To measure my possible success, I took some measurements before I started the charge:

November 11, 2007:

Amperage: .5 - rapidly decreased from 1A

Voltage: 9.5V

I'm using a charge controller, and will check the output tonight, but will leave the battery setup for the entire week so hopefully by next Sunday it will be able to start up the car.
