2008 Prius Updates and Miles Automotive

Published almost 5 years ago

Word on the street is that Toyota has no plans to update the Toyota Prius. I really hope they enable the "plug-in" feature, but as I've said before, its probably held up due to use tax questions.

Alternatively, you could go the "all electric" route, and buy a Miles Electric car:

From the description, it doesn't seem like its too practical. Only 120 miles on a charge, but its good to see someone going for it. Funny to think that US automakers sued to not have to make electric cars, then crushed all the ones they made! And its important to note that the Miles Electric car is manufactured in China.

There's an old saying about the ocean: "What you don't maintain, the sea will reclaim". If companies fail to innovate, they will go bankrupt!

Russell Coker says:

Electric cars have a stigma associated with them. People think that you can only drive short distances and it takes ages to recharge (which to some extent are true for straight electric cars).

There is an idea that if Toyota released a plug-in Prius then it would hurt their brand image.

The success of SUVs being sold for the purpose of driving children to school (which is the absolute worst possible use of such vehicles) demonstrates how image beats facts in the US car market.
