Subaru Outback Wagon- not yer mutha's wagon

Published almost 5 years ago

Subaru Outback

We bought a 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon in February 2005. Slightly used, with 8000 miles, it was a good deal with a few thousand dollars knocked off. In our area, these are a popular car because they are all-wheel drive.

Used Car Salesman Syndrome

Unfortunately, we didn't have a great buying experience. We went to Wilmington Subaru, in MA, and travelled there from Rhode Island in search of the green/smoke combination. The sales process was so drawn out, and since we had traveled all that way for a specific color, they were annoyingly hard nose about the price. They knew they could try to "stick it to us". We were there from 2:30 to 7:30. Our sales person talked our ear off about everything but the car. I would never go back there. But I would definitely buy another Subaru. We have loved it. It is great in the snow, comfortable, holds everything we need to bring around. It is pretty sporty and handles nicely for a wagon and gets 25 miles to the gallon. The safety records and reliability for Subarus should be envied by other car makers. Overall, we've had very little in the way of mechanical issues. I expect we'll be driving it for years to come, and if I am lucky- I will trade it in for a newer model!

A Family Car

We also got a visit from the stork who brought us a baby. The Subara Outback Wagon is a great car for a new family. You can fit the car seat, a stroller, and plenty of toys with ease. To make sure we can see our little ones while driving, we bought one of those mirrors for the back of the headrest. (I'll supply a link to what I'm talking about soon!) And for too much sunshine, we actually used some window film from Home Depot to cover the entire window. (Check out another one of my blogs: HealthyBot.com for information about babies, tots, and small children, including the custom seat cover now featured in our Subaru.)

Road Trips

The stereo is great too. Whenever we go on long drives, we bring our iPod and hook it into the radio with the iTrip. Along those lines, I just picked up an "iLove" so my husband can take his iPod elsewhere too! I was looking around for wireless speakers.
